The Asiatic Black Bear or Asian Black Bear is a medium-sized bear species found across the forests of Asia. Its range extends from the Russian Far East, the Himalayas, and the mountains of Southeast Asia, to parts of China, Korea, Japan, and the Indian subcontinent.

This bear has a thick, black coat, with the distinct white chest marking that resembles a moon. It has a round face with small ears, a relatively short tail, and strong, sharp claws, which it uses for climbing trees. The Asiatic Black Bear typically weighs between 100 to 200 kg, with males being larger than females. The Asiatic Black Bear is an omnivore. 

The species is listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN, primarily due to habitat loss, hunting for their fur, bile, and other body parts, and human-wildlife conflict.
